Monique Duggan - Civil Celebrant
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the next step?
Please contact me to check my availability and to arrange a no obligation meeting where we can go through your ideas and thoughts and you can see if I would suit your needs. I am a full time celebrant, so am available from 9am-9pm seven days a week.

What must be included in the ceremony?
There are three factors that must be included in all ceremonies in order for them to be legally binding. These include the Vows, the Monitum and the Signing of Certificates.

What is the Monitum?
The Monitum is part of the Marriage Act 1961 and is required by law to be read. It reminds everyone present of the serious and binding nature of what is about to take place.

What else can we include in our ceremony?
In order to make your ceremony personalised you need to include things that are relevant to you. I have a large reference library of poems, readings and songs that we can draw from.  You might like to choose the words from your favourite song or book as a reading.  I encourage couples to write their own vows, however I also have many samples that you can use.  Including family and friends in your ceremony can also make it extra special. You may also wish to include in your ceremony a Candle or Ring Warming ceremony. All of my ceremonies are individually written ensuring your ceremony will be unique and individual.

What can I do if I have a complaint about a celebrant?
Couples are not always aware that if you have any legitimate concerns about the performance of your celebrant, you can contact the Attorney General in Canberra.
